Shady Jake is built around carefully selected green-badge germanium transistors, chosen for their smooth clipping and natural compression.

Germanium reacts differently from silicon. It responds to picking dynamics, cleans up from the guitar’s volume control, and produces a more organic transition from clean to overdrive.

The circuit has been voiced to maintain a tight low end, focused midrange, and controlled high frequencies without brittleness.

This is not a high-gain device.
It is a responsive overdrive designed to enhance the natural voice of your instrument and amplifier.
