In short: The absolute perfect booster pedal for the front end of your vintage mid-gain amps such as Plexi Marshall, Orange, Hiwatt or Vox.
The new Ball Buster is the latest offering from Dirty Boy Pedals. It was conceived to drive the front end of your old "one trick pony" amp and give you a whole new array of amazing and usable guitar tones.
GAIN KNOB
When the pedal is first engaged, you'll notice an instant 10dB (approx.) of clean, pure boost. As the knob is turned clockwise, the pedal starts to explode with gain and natural compression. When fully clockwise, you'll find yourself in fuzz territory.
TREBLE / BASS KNOBS
Both perfectly voiced for guitar.
The TREBLE control can go from a perfectly transparent sheen to that old British cut with a simple twist, always rich and solid without that paper-thin, brittle high-end thing most pedals have.
The BASS knob is flat when turned fully counter-clockwise. As you turn it clockwise, your signal becomes rich and lush in seconds. It's voiced to only boost the usable bass frequencies that make your tone fatter — not that typical woofy, flubby low end that muddies your playing.
Used in conjunction with the H-M-L switch, this is where the fun really begins.
H-M-L SWITCH
This switch acts like a mastering engineer for your guitar signal.
In mastering, engineers often shave off unusable low-end frequencies to make a mix tighter, louder, and more energetic. Similarly, the H-M-L switch removes those muddy, tubby bass frequencies that cloud your sound and make your guitar harder to play.
Once those are gone, use the Bass knob to dial in only the good stuff — lush, focused low-end that supports fat lead tones or tight, punchy rhythm playing. Just plug the Ball Buster into the bass channel of an old Plexi and you’ll get it immediately.
EXTRA FEATURES
The Ball Buster is true bypass, so it won't color your bypassed signal. It can also be powered with a standard 9VDC supply.
SOUND DEMO
We’ve finally posted a sound clip for the Ball Buster. Instead of isolated tones, we made it a full song. It rocks — and it’s a great representation of what this pedal can really do.
For some reason, this pedal has become super popular with major guitar players performing in large venues like coliseums and Madison Square Garden. Once you hear it, you’ll understand why.
Ball Buster Soundclip
Since it's a booster, the entire tune was recorded with the Ball Buster on all guitars.
